The period of stay without registration in Tajikistan for Uzbeks is planned to be extended to 10 days (previously 3 days). The Tajik Lower House (Majlisi Namoyandagon) on March 28 adopted the relevant amendments to the Agreement between the governments of the countries on mutual trips of citizens dated March 9, 2018.

The MP Ravshan Rajabzoda, commenting on the amendments, noted that the number of Tajiks traveling to Uzbekistan has increased in recent years, and sometimes there are difficulties due to the short registration period.

Citizens of Tajikistan and Uzbekistan, according to the agreement "On mutual trips of citizens," can stay on the territory of a neighboring state for up to 30 days without a visa, the Asia-plus publication said.

In mid-March, Tajikistan and Uzbekistan fully opened ground checkpoints. For entry, the Uzbek side requires the presence of passports/certificates of vaccination against COVID-19, and in case of absence, a certificate with a negative PCR test result with an electronic QR code conducted not earlier than 72 hours.

According to Asia-Plus, the parties have resumed the work of all border checkpoints on the joint border. The republican headquarters of Tajikistan has transferred the work of border points to normal operation.
