On March 28, the Civil Aviation Agency under the Ministry of Transport issued an operating permit for the Russian airline Azimut to operate regular flights to Uzbekistan, the Agency said.

The low-cost airline plans to operate flights on Sukhoi Superjet 100 (RRJto95B) aircraft on Rostov-on-Don to Samarkand, Rostov-on-Don to Urgench, Krasnodar to Urgench and Mineralnye Vody to Urgench routes.

In early March, Russian airlines Aeroflot, S7 and Smartavia announced the suspension of international flights. They flew to several cities of Uzbekistan at once.

The decision was made in connection with the imposition of sanctions by Western countries, which provide for a ban on the sale of new aircraft, spare parts and equipment to Russian airlines. Later, Rosaviatsia recommended that carriers fly abroad on Russian-made aircraft (such as the Superjet 100) or leased from Russian companies.

On March 25, Rossiya Airlines (part of Aeroflot) announced the launch in April of regular flights on Superjet 100 aircraft from Sochi to five Uzbek cities to Bukhara, Samarkand, Tashkent, Urgench and Fergana.
