President Shavkat Mirziyoyev, during an open dialogue with doctors, on March 18 announced benefits for private medical organizations.
According to him, in numerous appeals, private clinics requested to provide a VAT waiver for import of medical equipment and tools, spare parts and components, as well as consumables.
The head of state said that from April 1, 2022, medical equipment, products, tools and materials imported by medical organizations will be waived from VAT and customs duties until January 1, 2025.
The appeals also highlighted that private clinics have to pay from 700,000 to 40 million soums for Uzbekistan work permit when hiring foreign skilled specialists.
“This requirement is now applying to specialists who are invited to perform high-tech operations in a short time, as well as for conducting master classes for doctors. In addition, private clinics must pay a “tourist fee” for foreigners who come to our country for medical tourism treatment,” the president said.
Thereby, from April 1, 2022:
- size of fees for work permits for foreign doctors in Uzbekistan will be cutsharply;
- tourist tax for private clinics will be cancelled.
In addition, it is expected that for private medical institutions, sanitary and construction requirements for obtaining a license will be radically revised.
Waivers for import of equipment were effective before. By presidential decree of April 1, 2017, until January 1, 2022, companies could import new medical equipment, components, spare parts and consumables (except for dental and cosmetology equipment), including under leasing agreements, without paying customs duties and VAT.
