The Uzbekistan Foreign Minister Abdulaziz Kamilov commented on the situation in Ukraine on the sidelines of the second Antalya Diplomatic Forum (Turkey).
“We are very concerned,” the minister replied to a question from an ANews correspondent. We could talk a lot about it. But, like many people in the world, we want an end to violence and a solution to all problems through political and diplomatic path.”
At the forum, he made remarks at the session “Afghanistan: How to cope with new realities”, where he stated that sustainable development is possible only with greater cooperation and expansion of ties, Star.com.tr said.
According to Abdulaziz Kamilov, Uzbekistan seeks to make the countries of Central and South Asia more connected, following the example of Turkey, which has been successful in building bridges between Asia and Europe due to its geographical location. He expressed confidence that Uzbekistan will play a similar role due to its geography.
The main goal for today in Afghanistan is to prevent humanitarian crises, Abdulaziz Kamilov stressed.
“It's time to focus on today's realities. The main problem today is to prevent humanitarian crises. As a neighbor, we are working with all regional players to improve connectivity and economic relations with Afghanistan,” he said.
At the end of February, the Uzbek President’s spokesman Sherzod Asadov, said that Uzbekistan "takes a balanced, neutral position" on the issue of invasion by Russia of Ukraine.
Ukrainian Ambassador to Tashkent Mykola Doroshenko recently thanked Uzbekistan for sending 28 tons of humanitarian aid to his country.
