On March 9, President Shavkat Mirziyoyev hosted an Iranian government delegation headed by Secretary of the Supreme National Security Council Ali Shamkhani.
The parties reviewed the ways to expand the Uzbek-Iranian ties and topical aspects of regional cooperation.
Ali Shamkhani conveyed the sincere greetings and best wishes of the President of Iran, Ibrahim Raisi.
The Uzbek leader valued the dynamic development of bilateral cooperation in accordance with the agreements reached at the highest level. The volume of the two-way trade is growing, industrial cooperation between the leading enterprises and companies of the two countries is deepening.
Last month, a regular meeting of the Intergovernmental Commission and a business forum were successfully held in Tehran. A number of other important events are planned.
The parties commended the outcomes of the first meeting of the Joint Commission on Security, held today in Tashkent and focused on the promotion of partnership projects and programs in the trade, economic, transport and communication areas, the continuation of effective cooperation in ensuring regional security, including countering the growing threats of terrorism, extremism, transnational crime and drug trafficking.
The sides exchanged views on the current situation in Afghanistan and measures to provide the necessary assistance to overcome the humanitarian crisis in that country.
