On March 1, Tashkent city mayor Jakhongir Artykkhodjaev met with the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Turkiye to Uzbekistan Olgan Bekar.

The Ambassador thanked J. Artykhodzhaev for the reception and underscored that Uzbek-Turkish ties are on the unprecedented upward trend. The Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan is expected to visit Uzbekistan as part of the Second Strategic Partnership Summit scheduled for end-March.

While, the parties discussed the allocation of a land plot for expansion of the Turkish school and the naming one of the streets of Tashkent after the first President of Turkey Mustafa Kemal Atatürk, as well as the activities of Turkish construction companies in Tashkent.

Jahongir Artykhodzhaev expressed his readiness to assist in resolving these issues, the mayor’s office said in a statement.

In 2011, Mustafa Kemal Atatürk Street in Tashkent was renamed Zarafshan Street.
