The Embassy of Uzbekistan in Nur-Sultan sent a note to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Kazakhstan due to the arrest of Uzbek nationals after the January riots in Kazakhstan, announced the official representative of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Uzbekistan Yusup Kabulzhanov.
The note contains a request to provide full information about the arrested citizens of Uzbekistan, their places of detention and the reasons for bringing them to justice. The Uzbek authorities also requested to organize a consular meeting with them for employees of the diplomatic missions of Uzbekistan in Kazakhstan.
The Embassy of the Republic of Uzbekistan in Nur-Sultan, as well as the consulates general in Almaty and Aktau, are in constant contact with representatives of local law enforcement agencies of Kazakhstan.
On the eve of the Ombudsman of Kazakhstan, Elvira Azimova, said that after the riots, 18 foreigners, including 14 citizens of Uzbekistan, remain under arrest.
