The Ukrainian portal of governmental services Diia experienced a powerful DDoS attack, the initial vector of which came from Russia and China, said the Minister of Digital Transformation of Ukraine Mikhail Fedorov.
According to the minister, the cyberattack on the portal began at about 20:00, following the attack on some banks. For Diia users it remained invisible. In the second half of February 15, PrivatBank and Oschadbank experienced a DDoS attack for several hours. Some services, including ATMs and self-service terminals, were out of service. Users also complained about interruptions in the banking mobile apps.
“The initial vector is from Russia and China. Somewhere around 600,000 packets of malicious traffic per second. Our experts quickly "cut off" this influx, but the attack returned from the Czech Republic and Uzbekistan. And it was repulsed again, ”Fyodorov said.
He added that the work continues under constant pressure and provocations, but is maximally mobilized and concentrated.
