7 hydropower projects with a total capacity of 173 MW will be launched in 2022б the Ministry of Energy said. In 2022 the following hydropower projects will be implemented:
- 3 new hydropower plants will be built in Samarkand province.
- four existing hydropower plants in Surkhandarya, Samarkand and Tashkent provinces will be modernized.
As a result, 173 MW of new capacity will be created, bringing the total capacity of hydropower plants in the country to 2,225 MW.
This is stated in the New Uzbekistan’s Development Strategy for 2022-2026 in the program of further development of the "green" energy sector in the country.
