The Kazakh Prime Minister will today land in Uzbekistan, the Nigoh telegram channel close to the Presidential Administration said. A government delegation led by Kazakh Prime Minister Alikhon Smailov will pay a one-day visit to Uzbekistan on 11 February.

Reportedly, the visit program includes talks with his Uzbek counterpart Abdulla Aripov and other joint events.

Alikhan Smailov was appointed Kazakhstan PM a month ago, on January 11.

Alikhan Smailov, 49, was born in Almaty. During his career, he served as Chairman of the Statistics Agency, Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs, Deputy Minister of Finance, Assistant to the President of Kazakhstan, Minister of Finance.

On February 25, 2019, by the decree of the President of Kazakhstan, he was appointed First Deputy Prime Minister/Minister of Finance. On January 18, 2021, by the decree of the President of Kazakhstan, he was reassigned to this position.
