The Uzbek parliamentary delegation, which is on an official visit to Kazakhstan, headed by the speaker of the Legislative Chamber Nurdinjon Ismailov, met with the leadership of the lower house of the Parliament of Kazakhstan on Wednesday, Dunyo reported.
Nurdinjon Ismailov and the chairman of the Mazhilis of Kazakhstan, Yerlan Koshanov, signed an agreement on the establishment of an Inter-Parliamentary Cooperation Council between the Legislative Chamber of Uzbekistan and the Majilis of the Parliament of Kazakhstan.
Yerlan Koshanov emphasized that the council would boost cooperation between the parliaments of the two countries, including for legislative support for the implementation of all agreements reached between the heads of the two states, the press service of the Mazhilis said.
Nurdinjon Ismailov, in turn, underscored that an enhanced inter-parliamentary dialogue would serve to increase the potential for political, economic, cultural and humanitarian cooperation between the two countries.
During the meeting, Yerlan Koshanov presented Nurdinjon Ismoilov with the 2nd degree Dostyk Order, as per the decree of the President of Kazakhstan, for strengthening friendship and cooperation between the peoples of Uzbekistan and Kazakhstan.
Nurdinjon Ismailov was also received by Kazakh President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev, Akorda's press service reported.
“Uzbekistan is a fraternal country and Kazakhstan’s reliable partner, so we attach particular importance to the advancing of our ties. Our alliance ties relations cover a wide spectrum, including the political, trade, economic, and humanitarian and cultural areas. Parliamentary diplomacy plays a special role in this regard,” the head of state stressed during the meeting.
