A large-scale power outage occurred in Uzbekistan at 10:57 AM. Residents of the capital and many provinces were left without electricity until 11 PM.

According to the Ministry of Energy, the unprecedented power outage in the Central Asian countries was due to a major accident in the common energy system.

As of 23:50 Tuesday, electricity supply in Uzbekistan has been restored by 65%, the press service of the Ministry of Energy reported.

“Currently, the power units of existing thermal power plants continue to be put into operation in stages,” the statement added.

In Tashkent, at 23:50, power supply was restored by 90%, the press service of the Tashkent mayor’s office reported.
