As of January 1, 2022, Uzbekistan’s permanent population stands at 35,271,276, the State Statistics Committee said in a report on Monday.

Reportedly, 17.9 million people live in urban areas, while 17.4 million in rural areas.

Earlier, it was reported that over 1 million people left Uzbekistan in 20 years.

Between 2000 and 2020, more than 1 million permanent residents of Uzbekistan moved abroad. The number of emigrants is 11 times higher than the number of migrants into Uzbekistan.

The lowest migration is in 2020. During the pandemic, 1,105 people immigrated to Uzbekistan.
