The Syrdarya province governor, Gofurjon Mirzaev dressed up as Santa Claus and handed out gifts. The original idea was however to implement the president’s Additional measures to support and further strengthen social protection of low-income groups of the population Decree.
According to the Syrdarya province governor’s office, on December 26 in Gulistan, Gofurjon Mirzaev, other senior officials visited Ulugobod makhalla.
Here they visited needy families. In particular, they visited the house where a 9-year-old boy lives. The governor read out the president's congratulations and offered gifts.
Also, the governor visited families who had lost their breadwinners.
“I have three children, the eldest became disabled. He has been operated twice since he was three. The province governor handed out gifts disguised as Santa Claus. This was such a surprise. We are very happy, especially the children. We are grateful to the president and the government,” said a local resident.
Also, as per the decree, 800 thousand soums, as one-time financial assistance will be given to:
- families added to the Iron Notebook (List of families in need of financial assistance) in 2021;
- families with children under 18 who receive a pension or survivor benefit;
- families receiving disability benefits for children under 18 years of age.
