Due to the extension of the Tashkent metro, the number of passengers is growing day by day, which is causing huge crowds at metro stations, the administration of the Tashkent metro said in a statement.
Reportedly, in 2020 the average daily passenger traffic of the Tashkent metro was at 250-300 thousand people, and today it is 380-420 thousand passengers.
To prevent crowds and create convenience for passengers, the Tashkent Metro has in 2 past years delivered 15 rolling stock, including 60 modern cars produced by Russian Metrowagonmash.
While, in peak hours, the intervals between trains are cut down to 3 minutes on Chilanzar line, up to 4 minutes on Uzbekistan line and 7 minutes on Yunusabad line. To further improve passenger service, in 2022 it is planned to purchase 14 more units of rolling stock, totaling 56 cars.
