The United Nations Children's Fund (UNICEF) is intending to use the logistics center in Termez to provide assistance to Afghanistan, the Fund's office in Tashkent said.

The head of the UNICEF office in Uzbekistan Munir Mammadzadeh visited Termez for an additional assessment of the humanitarian logistics center for Afghanistan and discussed the direct involvement of UNICEF in the work of the hub with local authorities and partners. The UNICEF representative, in particular, got acquainted with the work of the Termez Cargo Center logistics center.

Munir Mammadzade also met with the Surkhandarya province governor, Tura Bobolov, to discuss the needs of Afghan citizens living in Termez, as well as studying at the local training center.

The Termez Cargo Center is now used by UNHCR as a consolidation and dispatch point for relief supplies in Afghanistan. In October, three planes delivered about 100 tons of cargo with essential goods to Termez. The other day, the first 40 tons were sent by trucks across the Friendship Bridge to Afghanistan.
