President Shavkat Mirziyoyev at a meeting on December 14 proposed to introduce Tax Free - the VAT refund to foreign citizens for purchased goods when leaving Uzbekistan in Tashkent, Samarkand and Bukhara, the presidential spokesman Sherzod Asadov said.
Shavkat Mirziyoyev emphasized that shopping and entertainment venues should serve as a business card for the cities. According to him, today in Samarkand there are only 4 modern hypermarkets with an area of more than 10 thousand sqm, and in Namangan they are just being built. He instructed to build three large shopping and service complexes with an area of 200 thousand sqm in Namangan and seven large shopping and service complexes with an area of 400 thousand sqm in Samarkand.
In addition, the President noted that the volume of retail trade could be increased by 2-3 times through the Tax Free system in Tashkent, Samarkand and Bukhara, as well as the opening of Duty Free stores in cities.
"In general, in all tourist cities, a system for value added tax refund for purchased goods guests should be introduced," Shavkat Mirziyoyev highlighted.
