On November 15, the President’s special envoy for Afghanistan, Ismatulla Irgashev, at NATO headquarters in Brussels, attended a briefing on the current situation in Afghanistan, the Foreign Ministry said in a statement.
According to the Foreign Ministry, in his remarks, he emphasized the fact that "Afghanistan is a neighboring fraternal country for Uzbekistan with which we are bound by centuries-old bonds of friendship, a common history, religion, customs and traditions."
He added that Uzbekistan is pursuing friendly policies towards Afghanistan based on the principles of mutual respect, equality and consideration of each other's interests and pointed on the importance of the international community building a constructive dialogue with the Taliban, preventing the isolation of the Afghan people.
“Without exception, all permanent representatives of NATO member states expressed their sincere gratitude to Uzbekistan for providing assistance in the evacuation of its citizens from Afghanistan”.
He drew the attention of the participants to the fact that the priority for the entire international community should remain a more active involvement of Afghanistan in regional integration processes, as well as the provision of emergency humanitarian assistance to the Afghan people.
