Works are ongoing to complete a new airfield complex and to commission new air navigation equipment at the Samarkand international airport. The airport’s closure will be extended until December 15, the Uzbekistan Airports said.
All flights will continue to be redirected to other international airports of the republic - Navoi, Bukhara and Karshi, from where a ground transfer to Samarkand will be organized for passengers.
Recall that the operation of the air harbor was initially suspended from October 20 to November 20 in connection with the construction of a new airfield complex in preparation for the SCO summit, which will be held in 2022.
