The Uzbek Tourism Development Committee and the Ministry of Culture and Sports of Kazakhstan signed a cooperation agreement on tourism. The signing ceremony was held following the talks between the Committee Chairman, Anvar Sharapov and the Minister Arystanbek Mukhamediuly in the framework of the fifth International Uzbek tourist exhibition The World of Leisure-2017, held these days in Tashkent.
The Minister Mukhamediuly said that two new checkpoints will open on the Uzbekistan-Kazakhstan border to increase the tourists flow, and three existing ones will switch to the round-the-clock mode.
The growth of the tourists flow in both directions should be promoted through increase in railway and bus links. Recently, a high-speed Almaty-Tashkent-Almaty passenger train hs been launched.
The main tourists destinations for Uzbek nationals in Kazakhstan are the Borovoe resort, Balkhash and Alakol lakes, the Chimbulak ski resort, the cities of Astana and Almaty. Kazakhstani tourists choose Tashkent, Samarkand, Bukhara and Khiva. This year the Kazakhstani side expects an increased interest of tourists from Uzbekistan to the international specialized exhibition EXPO-2017.
