On April 12, the deputy chairman of the Constitutional Court of Uzbekistan, Buritosh Mustafoyev passed away at 68, a statement of the court's website said.

Buritosh Mustafayev was born in 1949 in Khatirchi district of Navoi province. In 1971, after graduating from the law faculty of the Tashkent State University, he began his career as a prosecutor of the Samarkand Province Prosecutor's Office.

For many years he had worked in responsible positions in the prosecution system, in 1989 he was appointed as public prosecutor of Uzbekistan, in 1993 - as the Prosecutor General of Uzbekistan.

From 1998 he held several high level positions: Deputy State Adviser to the President, Deputy Minister of Justice, Chairman of the Constitutional Court, Chairman of the Central Election Commission, Minister of Justice, Chairman of the Supreme Court.

In August 2014 he was elected as the deputy chairman of the Constitutional Court.

Buritosh Mustafayev was awarded the honorary title "Honored Lawyer of the Republic of Uzbekistan", the II degree order Shon-Sharaf (Honour) and Mehnat Shuhrati (Glory of Labour) order.
