On October 18, another batch of 526.5 thousand doses of Pfizer / BioNTech coronavirus vaccine was delivered to Uzbekistan, the Ministry of Health said.
The vaccines were donated by the United States as part of the global COVAX initiative, as was the first batch of 1.2 million jabs of this vaccine.
Earlier, the Ministry of Health said that another 273.5 thousand doses of this vaccine are expected to be delivered by the end of the month, the total volume of the two deliveries will thus amount to 800 thousand doses.
The total supply of coronavirus vaccines to Uzbekistan has reached 29.2 million doses. By the end of the year, this figure will surpass 47 million doses. This volume is expected to be enough to fully vaccinate 17.4 million Uzbeks.
Over 23.8 million doses of vaccine from various manufacturers have been administered to date, with more than 5.6 million people fully vaccinatated.
Also expected to arrive in October is 1.7 million doses of the Chinese Sinovac vaccine.
