President Shavkat Mirziyoyev on Saturday got acquainted with the project of construction of a ring rail line in Tashkent, the Akhborot news program on Uzbekistan channel reported.
According to Khusniddin Khosilov, a chief engineer of Uzbekistan Railways, the purpose of the project, initiated by the President, is to reduce congestion of roads and CO2 emission.
The total length of the line will be 71.2 km and comprise 26 stations. The cost of the project is $ 265 million, of which 185 million is funded by the state budget and 80 million by Uzbekistan’s Reconstruction and Development Fund, and foreign investments may also be drawn.
Khusniddin Khosilov noted that the railway line will be conveniently connected with bus and underground routes stations and other transport. He added that when drafting the project the experience of a number of foreign countries has been taken into account.
