The Foreign Minister Abdulaziz Kamilov attended the ministerial online meeting on Afghanistan on September 8, the Foreign Ministry said.
The meeting, organized at the initiative of the US Department of State and the German Foreign Ministry, was attended by the heads of foreign affairs agencies of more than 20 countries and also representatives of the UN, EU and NATO.
The parties discussed the current situation in Afghanistan, issues of consolidation of efforts to resolve the Afghan crisis and the provision of humanitarian assistance to the population of the country.
The participants in the meeting noted the importance of the Taliban's performance of obligations to observe fundamental human rights and freedoms, in particular, ensuring the rights of women and national minorities, preventing the activities of terrorist organizations in Afghanistan.
“Uzbekistan is firmly committed to maintaining friendly and good-neighborly relations with Afghanistan, observing neutrality and non-interference in the internal affairs of the neighboring country,” Abdulaziz Kamilov said.
The minister in his remarks also stated the need to develop a post-conflict strategy for Afghanistan, including the early recovery of its economy, the country's involvement in regional integration processes and the implementation of infrastructure projects.
