On April 6, 2017, the President Shavkat Mirziyoyev received the Chairman of the Executive Committee - the Executive Secretary of the CIS, Sergei Lebedev, who arrived in Uzbekistan to participate in the regular meeting of the CIS Council of Foreign Ministers.
The Head of State greeting the guest emphasized the importance of expanding and strengthening mutually beneficial ties in the framework of the Commonwealth. At present, the CIS is a unique platform for exchanging views and discussing topical issues of multilateral cooperation, promoting joint programs and various projects.
During the meeting, the sides paid special attention to ensuring the full functioning of the free trade zone within the CIS, and to implementation of promising projects aimed at rapid development of the transport-communication networks and increasing the transit potential of the entire region.
The sides stressed that the socio-political, economic and legal reforms implemented in our country, Uzbekistan’s Development Strategy in five priority areas for 2017-2021, the President’s Virtual Reception and Local Reception Centers, the activities and measures taken in the Year of Dialogue with People and Human Interests facilitate the realization of proposals and demands of the ordinary people and strengthening their confidence in the state.
S. Lebedev expressed sincere gratitude to the Head of our State for the warm reception, and the active involvement of in the preparation and holding of the meeting of the Council of Foreign Ministers of the CIS in Tashkent.
Shavkat Mirziyoyev in his turn wished the participants of the upcoming meeting of the Council of Foreign Ministers successful and fruitful work.
