The President Shavkat Mirziyoyev held a telephone conversation with the German President Frank-Walter Steinmeier on August 17, the presidential press service said.
The parties focused on the development of the situation in Afghanistan and underscored that the escalation of military-political tension in this country could have a serious negative impact on the state of regional and international security.
The two leaders agreed to closely coordinate joint efforts to promote a peaceful settlement of the Afghan problem and maintain regular political consultations on the situation in the region.
In addition, cooperation on the evacuation of German citizens from Afghanistan will also continue.
Evacuation of citizens from Kabul to Tashkent
On August 17, the second evacuation plane of the German Armed Forces (Bundeswehr) with 125 passengers from Afghanistan on board landed in Tashkent. Immediately after the plane took off from Kabul, the German Defense Ministry posted on Twitter that the Airbus A400M was returning from Kabul to Tashkent.
According to the report, there were German citizens on board, Afghan local personnel, as well as "other persons in need of protection."
The German Foreign Minister Heiko Maas wrote: "Air travel has begun and will continue as long as the security situation allows it to some extent."
The German Defense Minister Annegret Kramp-Karrenbauer said that evacuating from Afghanistan is a dangerous mission, but the Bundeswehr has the specialized personnel.
“The goal is to build an air bridge between Tashkent and Kabul to quickly evacuate more people who need to be protected,” she said.
