The sambo fighter Elbek Rakhimov was killed in Kashkadarya province, which was confirmed by the press service of the General Prosecutor's Office.
A criminal case was opened under the premeditated murder charge of the Criminal Code of Uzbekistan.
Seven people were involved in the case as suspects, six of them were detained in a procedural order.
The stories which surfaced on social networks said that the murder was committed in Karshi city, the attackers inflicted several knife wounds on the athlete, kidnapped him, after some time later he was found dead near a highway. The footage of the kidnapping was taken by a camera in downton Karshi.
