22 military aircraft and 24 helicopters of Afghanistan, carrying 585 Afghan servicemen, illegally crossed the airspace of Uzbekistan on August 14-15. The aircrafts were forcibly landed at the Termez airport, the General Prosecutor's Office of Uzbekistan said on Monday.

On August 15, three Afghan Embraer 314 military aircrafts requested permission to land at Khanabad airport in Karshi. They were redirected to the Termez airport accompanied by two military aircraft of the Uzbekistan Air Force MiG-29.

“However, during the escort, the Embraer 314 and MiG-29 aircraft collided and fell in Sherabad district of Surkhandarya province. The pilots of these aircraft ejected and landed with parachutes,” the message says.

On the same day, 158 Afghan citizens and military personnel illegally entered the territory of the Termez district of Uzbekistan across the Amu Darya River.

The Prosecutor General of Uzbekistan opened a criminal case under illegal travel abroad or illegal entry into the Republic of Uzbekistan by prior conspiracy by a group of persons charge. An investigation is underway.
