In the bill developed by the Ministry of Internal Affairs, some amendments are being made to the Criminal Code and the Code of Administrative Liability. The sanctions under the first part of Article 219 of the Criminal Code (resistance to a representative of the authorities or a person performing a civic duty) are being tightened. That is, the size of the fine increases from 50 to 100 times of the basic value, the punishment is from one to three years in prison, and the penalty in the form of imprisonment is proposed to be raised from one to three years.
“The People's Democratic Party has repeatedly stated that it will take a firm position against an unjustified increase in the size of fines, explaining this by the fact that the size of fines is much higher than the income of citizens. The bill was approved by a majority of votes for submission to the plenary session of the Oliy Majlis.
