The first batch of humanitarian cargo worth 330 thousand dollars from the Global Jewish Assistance and Relief Network and the World Congress of Bukharian Jews (USA), arrived at the Tashkent International Airport, Dunyo news agency reported.

The batch includes 165 thousand N95 respirator masks, 4,000 KN95s and 100 thousand three-layer masks. In general, humanitarian aid consists of about 270 thousand medical respiratory masks of various types.

The delivery of the first batch from New York to Tashkent was possible with the financial support of the director of the freight company Furkat Radjabov, based in the United States. The cargo was also formed with the support of Uzbek diplomats from the Consulate General in New York and the Embassy in Israel.

The second part of the cargo is due to arrive in Uzbekistan on the next flights of Uzbekistan Airways.

“I am happy to send humanitarian aid to Uzbekistan, in 1944 my parents met and got married in Tashkent, where they were evacuated during the Second World War,” said Eliezer Avtzon, the director of the Global Jewish Assistance and Relief Network told Dunyo news agency. “I have a good opportunity to thank the people of Uzbekistan, who gave shelter to my parents many years ago.”

In the future, the fund plans to continue sending humanitarian aid to Uzbekistan, the report says.
