Pre-investigation probe begun over the suicide of a 17-year-old male in Pastdargom district of Samarkand province, said the spokesman to the General Prosecutor's Office Khayot Shamsutdinov.
The young man committed suicide, after allegedly losing large sums of money in online gambling and owing money to his friends. The Prosecutor General's Office reported that on May 15 at about 3:00 AM the teen residing in Yangiobod mahalla of Pastdargom district committed suicide by hanging in a barn near his house.
"But his relatives did not report this to the law enforcement agencies, and on the same day, observing traditions, they held a funeral," the provincial prosecutor's office said.
"The probe will fully study all the arguments (including the connection of the incident with online gambling)," the Prosecutor General's Office concluded.
