The Ministry of Health has begun publishing statistics on the incidence of pneumonia along with data on new cases of coronavirus.
According to the ministry, 496 new cases of coronavirus were confirmed on July 5, (a day earlier - 475), while 172 people were diagnosed with pneumonia.
The highest number of new cases was registered in Tashkent city - 148, and 54 cases - in Tashkent province, in Samarkand - 49, in Jizzakh - 45. In other provinces - from 12 up to 27 cases.
During the day, 3 cases of death of patients with confirmed coronavirus were registered. The total official death toll since March last year is 754.
To date patients with pneumonia have not yet been added in the general statistics on the incidence of coronavirus, although they were treated in specialized medical institutions along with patients with COVID-19. The Ministry of Health noted that statistics take into account only those who were tested positive for coronavirus by laboratory tests, namely by PCR test.
In a number of countries, including Kazakhstan and Kyrgyzstan, statistics on pneumonia are published along with data on coronavirus.
