On July 5, the President Shavkat Mirziyoyev held a telephone conversation with the Russian President Vladimir Putin, the presidential press service said in a statement.

The parties separately touched upon on the development of the situation in the Central Asian region due to the escalation of tensions in the northern provinces of Afghanistan.

The two leaders agreed on further contacts through the authorized departments and organizations of the countries, the statement noted.

The day before, the presidents of Uzbekistan and Tajikistan, in a telephone conversation, confirmed the readiness of the parties to coordinate security cooperation between law enforcement agencies of the two countries.
