The 30th meeting of the Council of the Regional Anti-Terrorist Structure of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (RATS SCO) was held on March 30 in Tashkent under the chairmanship of the People's Republic of China, a statement of the Uzbek Foreign Ministry said.

It was attended by the representatives of Kazakhstan, the People's Republic of China, Kyrgyzstan, Russia, Tajikistan, Uzbekistan and the Executive Committee of the RATS SCO.

As noted in the statement, the draft of the SCO Convention on Countering Extremism has been approved. During the meeting, decisions were taken on holding in 2017 of joint antiterrorist exercises, the border operation of the competent bodies of the SCO member-states and the Fifth Scientific and Practical Conference on Cooperation in the Sphere of Countering International Terrorism and Extremism between the SCO member-states and the SCO observer-states .

The joint measures of the competent bodies of the SCO member states to counteract the challenges and threats stemming from the destructive activity of religious extremist trends have been agreed .

The Council adopted a number of decisions on organizational and personnel matters, financial support for the activities of the Executive Committee of the SCO RATS and the formation of the legal framework for cooperation of the SCO member states in the fight against terrorism, separatism and extremism.

An agreement was reached to hold a regular meeting of the SCO RATS Council in September 2017 in the People's Republic of China.
