The Center of Russian Language opened at the Uzbek State University of World Languages, a statement of UzA said. The opening ceremony was attended by the special representative of the President of Russia for International Cultural Cooperation, Mikhail Shvydkoi.

The Uzbekistan office of RosSotrudnichestvo took part in the project, providing the Center with books, educational supplies, audio and video materials, manuals and technical training aids.

Teachers and students of the center can conduct seminars and courses, as well as get acquainted with classical and modern Russian literature.

"The opening of the Russian Language Center in one of the leading universities in Tashkent is an important step in further strengthening the cooperation of our countries in the field of education,"- Mikhail Shvydkoi said. He expressed the hope that the Center will serve to enhance the pedagogical and student exchange between countries and the development of a bilateral dialogue on education.
