On October 4 in the framework of the international conference on Afghanistan in Brussels, the Uzbek Foreign Minister held a meeting with the President of the Islamic Republic of Afghanistan Mohammad Ashraf Ghani.
In the beginning of the meeting on behalf of the leadership of Uzbekistan Abdulaziz Kamilov expressed gratitude to the President of Afghanistan for his participation in ceremonies in Samarkand and for the deep condolences to the leadership and the people of Uzbekistan in connection with the untimely death of the First President of the Republic of Uzbekistan Islam Karimov, it said in the statement of the press service of the Uzbek Foreign Ministry.
During the meeting the issues of the Uzbek-Afghan agenda were discussed, including the state of and prospects for cooperation in political, trade-economic, transport and communications and other areas.
The parties welcomed the intensification of contacts at different levels which are aimed at strengthening the friendly and good neighborly relations between Uzbekistan and Afghanistan.
