The Namangan governor Shavkatjon Abdurazzakov hsoted a Ukrainian delegation headed by the Khmelnitsky city mayor Alexander Simchishin, the governor’s office reported.
Following the meeting, the Namangan city mayor Gofurjon Jamalov and Alexander Simchishin signed a twinning agreement between the two cities.
In addition to economic ties between Namangan and Khmelnitsky, it is planned to cooperate between universities, exchange students and provide scholarships, the statement said.
"In line with the agreement, the parties will develop cooperation between organizations and businesses, light industry, science, culture, healthcare, education, social affairs, sports, youth, tourism and environmental protection in their cities," Alexander Simchishin said in a post on Facebook.
In addition, he added, the parties previously jointly developed a roadmap for inter-province and bilateral cooperation, partnerships were established with textile manufacturers in Namangan, as well as in the field of agriculture.
