In large cities, provincial and district centers of Uzbekistan by September 1 will be created shopping and entertainment streets, where businesses will be allowed to work around the clock. This was stipulated by the president’s Measures for swift development of the services sector Decree of May 11.
The Decree notes that businesses will be allowed to work around the clock strictly abiding by public safety rules.
The creation of shopping and entertainment streets was entrusted to governor’s offices and the Ministry of Tourism and Sports in cooperation with the businesses. On these streets, places for itinerant trade points will be sold to businesses through electronic online auctions.
The same decrees instructed the governor’s offices to assist proactive businesses in the construction of open markets and shopping complexes in the districts and cities in 2021-2023. At the same time, the obligatory participation of local government bodies in the authorized capital of newly created markets and shopping complexes shall be canceled.
In April, President Shavkat Mirziyoyev held a meeting on the service sector. He instructed to create special streets of trade and services in 28 cities and provincial centers with a population of more than 150 thousand people. The head of state said that such facilities "should be allowed to operate around the clock, without disturbing people."
As a reminder, since October 2019, catering establishments and entertainment facilities have received the right to work around the clock subject to a number of requirements: a video surveillance system with the ability to store video for up to 30 days, sufficient lighting adjacent to the building and a parking lot, compliance with noise standards or non-use of music in night time, provision of fire extinguishing equipment and medical kits, and more.
