A legal framework regulating human organ transplantation will be developed in Uzbekistan, announced the President Shavkat Mirziyoyev at a healthcare sector government meeting on April 1.
Currently, transplant operations are not allowed if the donor is not a close relative of the patient. According to the head of state, for this reason, last year over 900 patients who applied only to the Republican Specialized Center for Surgery were denied treatment.
As a result, many Uzbek nationals are going abroad for such operations.
“People are going to India, Korea, Germany, Russia for treatment. Is it time to introduce it here or not? " the president said.
Shavkat Mirziyoyev proposed to the heads of the Senate and the Legislative Chamber to create the legal foundations for human organ transplantation within a month.
