Uzbekistan plans to abolish criminal penalties for illicit production, storage, import or distribution of religious materials, this was stated in the draft of the new Criminal Code.
According to Article 244-3 of the Criminal Code, illegal production, storage, import into the Uzbekistan for the purpose of distributing materials of religious content, committed after the application of an administrative penalty for the same acts, is punishable by a fine from one hundred to two hundred base values or correctional labor up to three years.
