The Kazakh President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev invited his Uzbek counterpart Shavkat Mirziyoyev to visit Kazakhstan, the Akorda, Kazakh presidency press service reported.

Earlier Kassym-Jomart Tokayev hosted the Uzbek Foreign Minister Abdulaziz Kamilov, who is in Nur-Sultan on a working visit.

Kamilov handed a message from Shavkat Mirziyoyev to the President of Kazakhstan with a request to support the initiative to hold an international conference in Tashkent “Central Asia and South Asia: Regional Interconnectivity. Challenges and Opportunities”.

During the meeting, the parties discussed the current state and prospects for further advance the Kazakh-Uzbek strategic partnership ties based on strong bonds of friendship and good neighborliness. Kassym-Jomart Tokayev stressed that, despite the difficult situation in the world and the pandemic, the ties between Kazakhstan and Uzbekistan are traditionally at a high level and demonstrate high resistance to modern challenges.

At the end of the meeting, the President of Kazakhstan expressed confidence that the Uzbek leader will visit Kazakhstan as the epidemiological situation improves.
