During the visit of the Uzbekistan government delegation to Hungary, the Deputy PM Sardor Umurzakov was hosted by the Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orban.
The parties reportedly discussed the prospects for cooperation in the investment, trade, economic, cultural and humanitarian areas, as well as the possibility of stepping up the ties between the businesses of the two countries.
Significant cooperation prospects for between the countries were identified in the investment sphere, by attracting leading Hungarian companies and advanced technologies to Uzbekistan, primarily in animal husbandry, agriculture, chemical, pharmaceutical, food industries. In this context, the role of the created Uzbek-Hungarian Business Council was emphasized.
The parties assigned a special role to the Intergovernmental Commission on Economic Cooperation, emphasizing its effectiveness as a sustainable mechanism for achieving significant results the investment and trade and economic areas.
The Uzbek side expressed gratitude to the Hungarian government for its readiness to support Uzbekistan in joining the World Trade Organization, and obtaining by Uzbekistan of the GSP+ General System of Preferences beneficiary status.
