Despite the pandemic, the volume of Uzbekistan-bound money remittances increased, topping US$ 427 million in January 2021, the Central Bank said.
This is by US$ 27 million or 7 percent compared to the January of 2020.
While, the outbound money remittances reached US$ 101 million, this gave a positive balance of US$ 326 million.
The volume of Uzbekistan-bound money remittances in 2020 surpassed US$ 6 billion, which is by US$ 17 million or 0.3 percent more than in 2019.
However, this is only remittances through money transfer systems, whilst there are also man-to-man transfers, which are estimated at around US$ 2 billion annually.
