The fifth round of Uzbek-Iranian political consultations between Foreign ministries was held on March 13, 2017 at the Uzbek Foreign Ministry. The Iranian delegation was headed by the Deputy Foreign Minister, Ebrahim Rahimpour.
The sides discussed current state and prospects of bilateral ties in various formats, and exchanged views on some international and regional issues, the Uzbek Foreign Ministry said in a statement.
The sides noted the emerging positive trends in the interstate relations, including within the framework of the UN, the Shanghai Cooperation Organization, the Organization of Islamic Cooperation.
The sides reiterated mutual interest in deepening ties in trade and economy, investment, transport and communication spheres.
In this context, it was emphasized that the realization of Uzbekistan–Turkmenistan–Iran–Oman transport corridor is gaining significant importance.
The sides agreed that holding inter-ministerial political consultations on a regular basis will allow to systematically review topical issues on the bilateral agenda, and to jointly develop areas of cooperation, which meet the interests of Uzbekistan and Iran.
At the meeting was also present the Ambassador of Iran to Uzbekistan, Bahman Agharazi Dormani.
