The Uzbek Ambassador to the United States Javlon Vahobov met with Daniel Unrau, Counselor for Migration at the Canadian Embassy in Uzbekistan (stationed in Moscow).

They discussed labor migration and the procedure and conditions for issuing entry visas to Canada.

According to Daniel Unrau, the Uzbek government could also send migrant workers to Canada.

During the talks, Daniel Unrau drew attention to the need to open a Canada Visa Center in Uzbekistan, while that such centers already operating in Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan and Tajikistan.

In the future, the opening of the Canada Visa Center in Uzbekistan and the holding of webinars for citizens on the proper registration of immigration documents can significantly facilitate the issuance of Canadian visas, said Daniel Unrau.

He also noted that given the high demand for French-speaking migrants in Canada, the Uzbek government should pay special attention to teaching French to migrant workers.

Following the talks, the parties agreed to take steps to open Canadian Visa Center" in Uzbekistan after the pandemic situation improves. A meeting between representatives of the Canadian Ministry of Civil Affairs, Immigration and Refugees and the Ministry of Employment and Labor of Uzbekistan will be held in late February to discuss in detail the prospects for cooperation in the field of labor migration
