The Special Republican Anti-Coronavirus Commission at the Feb. 11 meeting decided to certify the Russian Sputnik V vaccine in Uzbekistan and begin work on its registration, the Ministry of Health said.
The Sanitary and Epidemiological Welfare Service said that the vaccine certification will be carried out fast -track and may take 15-20 days.
Uzbekistan reportedly received the necessary materials to launch the certification process, in particular, the results of the third stage of clinical trials of the vaccine for research.
The Sanitary and Epidemiological Service was instructed to develop a procedure for mass vaccination. This process should be carried out entirely on a voluntary basis and, first of all, among the following population groups:
- senior citizens aged over 65;
- people with chronic diseases;
- medical workers;
- employees of preschool educational organizations, schools and universities;
- police officers.
On the eve of President Shavkat Mirziyoyev said that it is necessary to begin preparations for vaccination of the population against COVID-19.
