On February 10, the President Shavkat Mirziyoyev had a telephone conversation with the President of the Islamic Republic of Afghanistan Ashraf Ghani, the Uzbek presidency website said.

The President Ashraf Ghani reportedly expressed sincere gratitude on behalf of the brotherly people of Afghanistan to the head of our state for the support provided in ensuring peace and stability on Afghan soil and the economic recovery of the country.

The two leaders valued the successful outcomes of the first meeting of the trilateral working group on promoting the construction of the Trans-Afghan transport corridor, which was attended by high-level representatives of Uzbekistan, Afghanistan and Pakistan, as well as leading international financial institutions.

The presidents agreed to join forces and expedite the implementation of the project to build a new Surkhan - Puli-Khumri power transmission line. To this end, a bilateral mechanism for coordinating the implementation of the planned work will be created, with videoconferences on a monthly basis.

The possibilities of expanding the Uzbek-Afghani multifaceted cooperation, including in the oil and gas industry, in the field of education and training of qualified Afghan personnel in technical specialties, were also considered.

The participation of the Uzbekistan delegation in the celebrations on the occasion of the 580th anniversary of the great poet and thinker Alisher Navoi, which will be held in March this year in the city of Herat, has been agreed.

They also exchanged views on the schedule of upcoming events and contacts at the highest and high levels.

The Presidents instructed to form a joint government group in order to continuously monitor and effectively promote the implementation of the Road Map and priority investment projects.
