Tourist (hotel) tax will be introduced for each day of their stay in hotels and other accommodation facilities for Uzbek citizens and stateless persons permanently residing in Uzbekistan from March 1, 2021.
This is stipulated by the president’s Feb. 9 Measures for the further promote of domestic and pilgrim tourism in the Republic of Uzbekistan Decree.
The amount of the tax will be set by the Cabinet of Ministers. At the same time, the received will be used to finance activities to promote and stimulate domestic tourism, ensure the workload of accommodation facilities (hotels, tourist camps and complexes, houses and recreation areas, boarding houses, campings, motels, family guest houses, yurts and tent camps, sanatoriums and other facilities) during the low tourist season.
Tourist tax is collected by hotels, hostels for each day of stay. Currently only foreigners pay it.
