On January 29, officers of the Termez city police department of the Surkhandarya province arrested the blogger Otabek Sattoriy.

The video of arrest surfaced on social networks where officers were forcibly putting the man in a car.

According to the Investigation Department under the Ministry of Interior of February 1, Lochin T. whoc is the director of Chinora Gul Baraka market, on January 29 filed a complaing of extortion. According to him, in December the district mayor’s office instructed him to set up a food fair in the market, and the blogger Otabek Satoriy filmed the market flaws on his mobile phone. On January 28, the blogger allegedly called the head of the market and demanded to buy him a new Vivo X50 phone instead of the Redmi 5, which broke down while filming the market, and threatened to spread the video on social networks if his demand was not met.

The Investigation Department added that the recording of the conversation with the blogger had been attached to the complaint.

As part of the operation, Otabek Satoriy was detained while he was given a Vivo X50 phone worth 5.04 million soums near his house. It is noted that the phone was subjected to a special chemical treatment (probably to track fingerprints).

According to the Investigation Department, Otabek Satoriy is now facing Extortion charge and is detained in a procedural manner, the statement said.
