On February 1, the Foreign Minister Abdulaziz Kamilov hosted the his Afghan counterpart Hanif Atmar, the Uzbek Foreign Ministry said.
The parties reportedly discussed the current state and prospects of further advancing the Uzbek-Afghan relations in various fields.
“The Afghan Foreign Minister highly valued the participation of Uzbekistan in the restoration of Afghanistan’s economic infrastructure, with the parties focusing on the implementation of transport, communication, energy and other infrastructure projects. The parties also noted that there is no alternative to the inter-Afghan political negotiations to establish long-term peace and ensure security in the country,” the statement underscored.
It also became known that the Afghan side supported the holding in Tashkent of the international conference “Central and South Asia: Regional Interconnectivity. Challenges and Opportunities”.
The parties also touched upon and agreed a plan for upcoming joint events.
